PAW PAW, West Virginia The Summer Concert Series continues at Avalon Resort with FaerieFest 2014.
Friday, June 20, the Avalon front gate becomes a portal between the mortal realms and the realms of Fae.
On Saturday, June 21, as the veils between those two worlds thin due to Midsummer, Faeriefest 2014 officially starts at the summer solstice, 6:51 am. The fun begins Friday night, but the entire weekend will be a magical time of celebration, feasting and merrymaking. Come out and enjoy dance, music, food, vendors and fun as the mortals and the creatures of the realms of air, earth, water and fire mingle as they only can at Avalon. It's where you can wear your wings and nothing else because Avalon Resort is 'Your getaway to the friendliest clothing-optional resort!'
Activities and live entertainment are scheduled throughout the weekend. The celebration begins Friday night at 8pm with a drum circle and a Fire Flow Arts Performer. Early Saturday morning the fest continues beginning with the summer solstice, which occurs at 6:51 am. It will be celebrated by a poetry reading. Get up early and bring your favorite solstice poem or join others reading theirs aloud around the front lawn fire circle. Musical entertainers, street performers, jugglers and the Aubergine Faeries add to a full day of fun and merriment that ends with the Faerie Ball and the all-original music of Option 22 Saturday night.
Food and beverage service will be available all weekend including a vegetarian variety. Menus and service times posted at event. The Vendor Marketplace will be open all day Saturday.
Even though there will be a lot of fun activities throughout the day and into the night, there will be plenty of time for mortals and those from the realms of Fae to mingle. Come celebrate as a mere mortal or get your body paints, glitter, wings and other faerie fare and join the festivities. If you choose to 'dress' for FaerieFest, what creature in the realm of Fae will you choose to represent? Will you be a King or Queen of the Faeries, an elf, goblin, pixie, leprechaun, poltergeist, mermaid, nix, troll, slyph, gnome, dwarf, selkie, drake (dragon), bogle, boggart (Harry Potter fan's know this one) or one of the many other 'characters' of the Faerie realm?
Admission for the entire weekend is $40. That is Friday through Sunday, includes free tent camping, all-event access and the use of Avalon Resort amenities. One-day admission for just Saturday events and activities is $20. Tickets will be available at the door or can be ordered by calling the Avalon office at (304) 947-5600.
