St. C. Area Soccer Association Extends Registration
Any Belmont County or Ohio Valley youth with birthdays between 8/1/2000 and 7/31/10 can sign up at the recreation center in St. Clairsville until today without late fee. Registrations after today will be accepted on an as needed basis. Players in the eighth grade who are 15 and not yet in High School are permitted to play. Forms are available at the St. Clairsville Recreation Department and Swan's and Jenkins Sports stores, St Mary's and East Richland Schools and other area schools. Travel Teams will be formed with the U-10 to U-14 age groups. Teams will play other recreation teams in the Ohio Valley with the older teams playing within the region. The U-6 and U-8 will not travel outside of St. Clairsville. Travel Team play will begin after Sept. 7 and Pre Travel will begin Sept. 9. Parents are encouraged to join the St. Clairsville Area Youth Soccer Association to assist the program. St. C. Cheering Clinic Participants Invited to Cheer
The St. Clairsville cheering clinic participants are invited to cheer the first half of the St. Clairsville River View football game on Friday, Sept. 5. Participants are asked to wear their clinic t-shirt or St. Clairsville school colors and tennis shoes. Report to the track at 7:15 p.m. for the 7:30 game. Participants will be admitted free to the game. Face tattoos will be sold prior to the game. Parents are asked to pick up their child at the end of the second quarter at the track gate which is located by the locker room. If you have any questions, please call Coach Shawn Tomlan at 695-5762.
Martins Ferry Football Parents to Meet
The next meeting of the Martins Ferry Football Parents will be on Tuesday, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Martins Ferry Recreation Center.
Donations for the upcoming Gun Bash can be turned in at this meeting.
Parents of all players in grades 7 through 12 are invited and encouraged to attend.
Martins Ferry Football Parents Gun Bash
The Martins Ferry Football Parents are hosting a Gun Bash fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the rec center.
Doors open at 4 p.m., raffles begin at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6.
Tickets are $50 each and includes dinner, beverages and chance to win a prize raffled every 15 minutes. On-site NICS checks must be passed to receive guns. Winners do not need to be present.

Purple Rider Boosters Planning Bus to Wickliffe
The Purple Riders Booster Club is sponsoring a fan bus to Wickliffe for the Purple Riders' second football game of the season. The cost is $45 for adults and $40 for students (14-and-under). The cost includes transportation, game ticket and a stop for dinner, which is included in the cost. The game is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 5 at 7:30 p.m. The bus will leave at 2 p.m. from the Dutch Henry on Hanover Street. Ferry Slates Flag Football Signups
The Martins Ferry Park District will have flag football signups for grades 1-6, through Sept. 2 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Martins Ferry Recreation Center.
The price is $30 for the first child and $20 for each individual in the immediate family. Games will be played on Sundays at the Martins Ferry Purple Rider Stadium. Anyone having questions is to call the recreation center, (740) 633-0602 or Larry Deaton at (740) 296-0076.
WAHA Celebrating 50th Anniversary
WAHA, the Wheeling Amateur Hockey Association is celebrating its 50th anniversary (1964-2014).
The celebration is set for Saturday from 6-10 p.m., and will be held at the Wheeling Park, White Palace.
You are cordially invited to attend and take part in the festivities. Re-connect with your past hockey coaches and team mates. The evening will consist of a cocktail hour, dinner, music, and a short program. Look forward to seeing our past presidents, board members, commissioners, coaches and players along with their spouses.
All are welcome and encouraged to attend. The cost of the affair is $50 per person, including bar.

Irish Youth Steak Fest Slated
The sixth annual Irish Youth Steak Fest will be held on Saturday at the Irish Youth Sports Complex. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served from 6-8 with live entertainment from 7-10. The dinner includes: steak, baked potato, salad, bread, dessert, water and pop. Those attending are asked to bring your place settings. There will also be games, raffles and the entertainment will be provided by Taylor Porter and Verdict. Bridgeport Hall/Wall of Fame Needs Addresses
The Bridgeport High School Hall/Wall of Fame Committee still needs addresses for the following: 1958 football team members Alvin Henry, Fred Fox John O'Hara, Allan Earnes, Barry Gasaway and Coach Michael Mormanis; 1936 football team members Edson Heinlein and Robert Dill; and Coach Floyd Baker.

OVFCA Seeking Nominations
The Ohio Valley Football Coaches Association is in the process of accepting applications for nominations for retired assistant football coaches with 25 years of service, with at least 15 of those in the OVAC. The recommendations, may be sent to either Reno Saccoccia, Dave Bruney or Mike Young. We would be inducting these coaches into the hall next winter.
