Athlete of the Week Honor Roll
DJ LUCAS, Beallsville – This junior wideout caught a trio of passes for 111 yards and a touchdown. He also charted two solo tackles and assisted on four others.
TERYN JARRETT, Beallsville – This senior quarterback completed 13 of 32 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, he logged one solo tackle.
RICKY TUBAUGH, Beallsville – A senior wide receiver, he turned in an all-around effort on opening day as he carried the ball 13 times for 56 yards and a TD. He also returned four kickoffs 154 yards and had four assisted tackles.
SPENCER BADIA, Bellaire – Only a junior, he passed for 424 yards on 37 of 64. He fired four touchdowns, including the game-winner on the game’s final play. He also ran the ball nine times for 44 yards.
NICK PATRONE, Bellaire – A junior wideout, he landed 15 receptions for 171 yards and the game-winning TD from four yards out. He also recorded six tackles.
LOGAN KOSHENKA, Bellaire – A senior fullback/linebacker, he carried the leather eight times for 60 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, he had 13 solo tackles, four assists and a fumble recovery.
TYLER STRAMA, Martins Ferry – The Purple Riders’ senior signal-caller was 8-for-13 for 97 yards and two touchdowns. He picked up 44 yards on seven carries and scored twice, while also running for a pair of 2-point conversions. He also was picked off once. On defense, he had four tackles.
ERIC FLOWERS, Martins Ferry – A junior transfer from Barnesville, he completed 9 of 11 passes for 143 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
SEAN MCGEE, Martins Ferry – This senior two-way standout charted eight tackles on defense.
KOREY LAFFERRE, Monroe Central – The Seminoles’ senior quarterback/defensive back recorded 11 tackles, with 1 being for minus yardage. He also carried the ball 13 times for 86 yards and a touchdown. He was 1 of 6 passing for 15 yards.
LEVI BROWN, Monroe Central – Led Monroe Central with 112 yards on 16 carries. The promising sophomore also punted five times for a 35.2 average.
JAKE SCHUERMAN, Monroe Central – This junior was solid on defense as he picked off a pass, charted 9 tackles – coming behind the line of scrimmage.
JOSH GUILER, Monroe Central – This senior had half-a-dozen tackles and kicked two extra-points.
KAM BROWN, River – This senior wide receiver caught six passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns. He also had six tackles and an interception
CODY CALDWELL, River – This senior quarterback completed 9-of-20 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns.
NICK ASTURI, River – This senior running back ran for 75 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown. On defense, he had six solo tackles, a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery.
EVAN EGGLESTON, River – Senior lineman played well on both sides of the ball with four tackles, an assist, a fumble recovery and a tackle for loss.
LUKE SMITH, St. Clairsville – A senior two-way stalwart, he totaled a dozen tackles – three for minus yardage – and recovered a fumble.
COREY ERNEST, St. Clairsville – A veteran in the trenches, the senior graded out at 88.9% from his left tackle slot. He also recorded six tackles, with two coming in the backfield. He also had a quarterback sack.
DEREK SHUNK, St. Clairsville – A senior defensive lineman, he made half-a-dozen tackles, recovered a fumble and sacked the quarterback once.
MICHAEL FERNS, St. Clairsville – This junior linebacker/fullback made 10 tackles and sacked the quarterback once. On offense, he ran the ball seven times for 29 yards and a TD and caught two passes for 32 stripes and another six-pointer.
KASEY OPIC, St. John Central – This senior defensive end stripped the ball from a Bridgeport runner and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown. He finished with 10 tackles and added another fumble recovery.
DJ SHOEMAKER, St. John Central – This senior made his Green-and-White debut by running 15 times for 47 yards. he completed 2 of 5 passes for 70 yards. On defense, he was credited with a dozen tackles.
