Barnesville spikers now 16-3
Barnesville ran its girls’ volleyball record to an impressive 16-3 Thursday night with victories over St. John Central and Linsly.
The Shamrocks defeated the Irish 25-20 and 25-16 as Hunter Weiss led the way with nine points and 11 digs. Sydney Bruce added six points and 17 digs, while Marissa Burga added five points, 10 kills and nine digs. Miranda Plumly added 10 kills; Paige Huntsman 11 assists and six digs; and Layna Broomhall 11 assists and seven digs.
St. John was paced by Kristen Russell with three points, three kills, seven digs, 10 passes, 10 assists and two blocks. Kaydie Coppa added five points, two kills, two digs, 13 passes, nine assists and four blocks. Lindsee Perry had six kills, five digs, 12 passes and four blocks. Caitlin Sliva chipped in five points, three aces, four kills, six digs and 16 passes.
Barnesville also defeated Linsly by identical scores of 25-11.
Broomhall had nine points, three aces and two digs. Burga added six points, five digs and three kills, while Weis contributed five points, four aces and three digs. Plumly had six kills and a like number of assists, while Huntsman added eight assists and Raquel Bahmer four kills.
St. John also defeated Linsly by scores of 25-16 and 25-17.
Russell had seven points, three aces, six kills, three digs, five passes and 10 assists. Coppa had four points, four kills, two digs, five passes, 12 assists and four blocks. Perry added four kills, two digs, 13 passes and a pair of blocks. Sliva chipped in six points, three aces, five kills, two digs and four passes. Jessica Alvey added six kills, five passes and three assists. Sydney Helms had eight points, two aces, three digs, eight passes and five assist. Abbey Schlanz added five points, two digs and 10 passes.
The Wheeling Central Lady Maroon Knights recorded a four-set victory against Shadyside Thursday evening.
Central prevailed by scores of 20-25, 26-24, 25-12 and 25-18.
The Lady Knights were led by Sara Henry’s 24 points. Marissa McFadden added 9 points.
Shadyside was led by Kenzie Fielding’s 19 points. Karli Bonar had nine points and Bri Lappert had seven tallies.
St. C. sweeps Bellaire
The Red Devils won 25-18, 25-11 and 25-16 as Allie Harrison led the way with 15 points, 18 assists, six aces, five digs and a pair of kills. Rebekah Sadlowski added 14 points, while Ashleigh Moulder had seven points, two digs, two kills and a pair of blocks. Gabbie Espen chipped in four points and seven kills. Brigee Mick had 10 digs and six kills. Alexis St. Clair added three points, six digs and 10 blocks.
The Big Reds were paced by Mackenzie Conroy with 11 digs and four kills. Taylar Canter had eight digs. Lindsey McMahon added five digs and three kills. Tori Duffy had seven assists, while Hunter Eden had five digs and four kills.
In other action, River topped Paden City and Beallsville fell to Tyler Consolidated.
