Monroe Central, Beallsville advance in sectional volleyball action

Monroe Central advanced to the Division III sectional final Saturday night by virtue of a four-game victory against St. Clairsville Thursday evening at Meadowbrook High School in Byesville.

The Lady Seminoles posted a victory by scores of 25-17, 20-25, 25-14 and 25-21.

Chelsea Roberts led the winners with 24 kills, while Amanda Haslam added 14 points and 16 digs. Chelsie Tewanger chipped in seven kills, 11 points and 15 digs. Melanie Stimpert finished with a dozen points and 20 assists. Anne LaFollette had 20 digs. Cameron Brock 14 assists and Elizabeth Robey six kills.

Brigee Mick led the Lady Red Devils (10-10) with seven points, seven digs and seven kills. Gabbie Espen had nine points and 10 assists. Ashleigh Moulder added eight points, three digs, five kills and four blocks. Alexis St. Clair added four kills, nine kills, three blocks and three points. Rebekah Sadlowski added seven points, seven digs and two kills.

Division IV

(at Barnesville High School)

Beallsville (13-10) and Frontier punched tickets to Saturday’s co-sectional final with victories over Bridgeport and Caldwell, respectively, Thursday.

The sixth-seeded Blue Devils knocked off the No. 5 Bulldogs 25-22, 25-10 and 25-18.

Morgan Marley paced Beallsville with 16 points, two digs, two kills and a pair of blocks. Madison Stephen added 14 points and 12 kills. Anna Jones had eight points and 26 assists. Rachael Emrock finished with eight points and two digs. Katey Kinney had 13 kills and four blocks.

Leading Bridgeport was Emily Nowakowski with nine points, 12 assists, four digs and three aces. Ali Baker scored five points and Hannah Lewis had 13 digs. Briana Massey had four kills and Cheyenne Flowers donated seven digs and four kills.

Jalynn Conaway had six kills and two blocks.
