St. C.’s Eaton re-writes OVAC recordbook in breaststroke
St. Clairsville junior Michael Eaton is amongst the state’s best in prep swimming as evidenced by his all-Ohio finish a season ago.
He demonstrated over the weekend that he’s gotten even better.
Taking part in the Canton City Schools Christmas Swim Meet at Branin Natatorium against some of Ohio’s premier Division I swim schools, Eaton won the 100 breaststroke in a time fo 58.77.
To reach the finals in that event, Eaton was the top qualifier with a mark of 58.72, which is a new OVAC Open Record, breaking the mark of Linsly’s Theron Pappas, which has stood since 1999.
Eaton was also seventh in the 100 freestyle.
The Red Devils also had two relays earn the right to swim in the prestigious meet.
Junior Carly Falcone also took part in the 100 breaststroke.
