Jarrett’s 38 not enough as Donahue nips Beallsville
Despite a 38-point eruption from senior Teryn Jarrett, Beallsville’s Blue Devils fell one point short Saturday night.
Invading Bishop Donahue mounted a 13-point lead then had to hold off a furious Beallsville comeback bid before finally securing a 80-79 victory.
Donahue led 17-14 after one period and 38-33 at halftime. Beallsville faced a 56-48 deficit after three periods.
The West Virginians led by four in the final ticks before a late three-pointer resulted in the final reading.
Brice Jones hit for 26 points, pacing the Bishops. Jesse Padlow provided 20-point support.
Backing Jarrett’s 38-point output was Logan Nippert who tallied 17. Beallsville returns to action Tuesday when Newcomerstown’s Trojans invade.
River 78, Frontier 42
AT Hannibal, the Pilots made it nine wins in 12 starts following a decisive win over Frontier.
River mounted an 18-8 upperhand after one period and took a 39-14 lead to the lockerroom at halftime. Mark Romick’s quint was on cruise control after three panels, 64-28.
Brett Price paced a balanced Pilots’ attack with 18 points. Matt Marconi provided 17-point support and Cody Caldwell connected for 16. Jordan Indermuhle collected 13 rebounds and recorded six steals.
River shot 29-of-65 from the floor and was charted for nine turnovers. The Pilots knocked down 13 three-point field goals.
Romick’s club welcomes Magnolia for a Tuesday night tipoff at Hannibal.
Buckeye Local 59,
AT Weirton, invading Buckeye Loxcal came off a 12-10 deficit after one period to roll past host Weir High. Jay Morris’ quint came back to lead 28-17 at halftime and 47-24 after three panels.
John Rozenek topped Buckeye with 14 points. Kyle Michalo chipped in with an 11-point outing and Brennan Czuchran tallied 10.
Buckeye Local is back at Hannibal to oppose Union Local on Tuesday.
