Price sparks River boys

Behind a sizzling 40-point performance from sharpshooter Brett Price, River’s Pilots handed Magnolia its first loss of the season Saturday night in New Martinsville.

After posting a Friday night road triumph at Shenandoah, Mark Romick’s Rivermen came back for a 79-68 downing of the Blue Eagles before a big turnout.

Improving to 6-3, River returns home for a Tuesday night tipoff against Bridgeport at Hannibal.

The Pilots were 25-21 leaders following a fast-paced first quarter Saturday. Romick’s combine held forth at halftime, taking a 41-38 upperhand to the lockerroom at halftime.

Coach Dave Tallman’s Eagles used a 16-10 third panel turnaround for 54-51 leadership after three quarters before River rifled home 28 fourth period points to overtake the hosts.

Price’s sterling output included 14 field goals, eight coming behind the three-point arc. Matt Marconi provided 13-point support. Cody Caldwell connected for nine counters. Kam Brown brought down nine rebounds. In all, River converted 15 three-point baskets.

Beallsville 75, Cameron 58

AT Beallsville, the Blue Devils used a 21-8 third panel uprising to slay invading Cameron. Coach Casey Tolzda’s Big Blue won for the fourth time in nine outings and will visit Weirton Madonna on Tuesday.

Teryn Jarrett fired in a game-leading 27 tallies for Big Blue. Logan Nippert provided 19-point support. Both Jarrett and Nippert connected for five three-point buckets apiece.

Paden City 56, St. John Central 40

At Paden City, DJ Shoemaker’s 13 points paced the Irish which also received twin digit production from John Alvey who netted 10 counters..
