Panthers hold off Shamrocks
Buckeye Local’s Kyle Michalo gunned in a school-best 39 points Wednesday night as the Panthers (11-10) held off Barnesville, 79-75, in boys’ basketball action in Barnesville.
The senior southpaw meshed 15 field goals, including two from behind the bonus arc, and meshed 7 of 8 free throws en route to breaking Chase Groves’ former mark of 37. Brennan Czuchran added 13 points and nine boards.
Brandon Burkhart and Isaac McGee each scored 18 points for the Shamrocks (6-14). Dylan MacMillan added 15. Zach Houston and David Stewart had 13 a piece.
Parkersburg South 68, St. Clairsville 46
The homestanding St. Clairsville’s girls completed their regular season Wednesday evening with a setback at the hands of Parkersburg South on John Jenkins Court.
The Lady Red Devils (11-11) will open Division III sectional play Tuesday at Cambridge against West Muskingum in a 6 p.m. tip.
St. C., meanwhile, was led by Carlee Gillespie, who had 12 points. Alexis St. Clair donated 10.
