Dorris powers Tigers

Shadyside sophomore Austin Dorris got it done both on the mound and at the plate Tuesday afternoon in Tigertown.

Dorris fired a complete game three-hitter and also delivered a clutch two-run double in the bottom of the fifth as Shadyside (7-1) upended Bellaire, 4-2.

Dorris struck out six and walked one. Bellaire starter Nathan Steele and reliever Hunter Westlake teamed on the hill for the Reds.

Jared Brooks knocked in a Tiger tally via two singles. Chase Kinemond cracked two singles and Cody Hudson added a single and RBI.

Bellaire’s Nick Patrone produced an RBI base rap. Westlake also accounted for a Big Reds’ run.

Steubenville 8.

St. Clairsville 7

AT Memorial Park, the Red Devils could not protect a four-run lead going to the top of the seventh when Big Red erupted for five runs to prevail.

Anthony Zorne worked the mound for Steubenville, striking out eight and issuing five free passes. A trio of Red Devil moundmen teamed for two Ks and six walks.

St. C.’s Malik Gummer singled three three times and drove in a pair. Turner Provost collected two singles and a run batted in. Joel Giffin doubled and knocked in one. Mike Jacob and Lewis Mitchell contributed base raps and an RBI.

Shenandoah 4, Beallsville 3

AT Beallsville, the host Blue Devils were guilty of four costly errors in a one-run loss to invading Shenandoah.

Beallsville’s Ricky Tubaugh was the tough-luck loser, fanning five and walking three.

Dalton Secrest singled and accounted for two Blue Devil tallies. Tubaugh contributed a single and run batted in.

Wheeling Park 12, Union Local 2

AT Morristown, the Patriots scored six times in the top of the first en route to a five-inning victory over UL.

UL’s Cody Burnett belted two singles and drove in one run. The Jets are now 2-6.
