Ferry slips past Edison in 9

Martins Ferry’s Purple Riders hooked up with Buckeye 8 rival Edison in a Monday afternoon prep classic.

Ferry pushed across a run in the bottom of the ninth to squeeze out a 1-0 victory. While Anthony Reasbeck’s Riders improved to 6-6. Edison was falling was just the second time in 10 outings. The Purple were slated to welcome Barnesville this afternoon.

Ferry received a clutch mound outing from Seth Scott who scattered seven hits in a complete game outing. Scott recorded eight strikeouts and issued just two free passes.

The Riders’ Tyler Strama singled in the bottom of the ninth. Following a walk to Robert Vargo, Jeremy Plants delivered the game-winning hit.

Bellaire 2, St. Clairsville 0

At Bellaire, junior Nick Patrone twirled a 2-hit shutout as the Big Reds slipped over the .500 mark at 7-6.

Dalton Conroy singled and Tyler Ramsey doubled to start the Bellaire fifth. With two outs, Dom Vinka’s smash to short was misplayed as both runs scored.

Patrone fanned 13 and walked a pair.

Malik Gummer had a double for the Red Devils (2-9).

Shadyside 3, Barnesville 2

AT Memorial Park, invading Shadyside plated three first inning runs and made them stand up in a one-run victory over Barnesville.

Zach Frizzi earned the mound decision, fanning two and walking three. Jared Brooks came on to record a save. Brooks fanned four and walked one.

Barnesville’s Mitchell Wells blanked the Orange over the final six frames after surrendering the three first inning runs. Wells finished with four Ks and seven walks.

Shadyside’s Adam Stupak collected three singles. Cody Hudson contributed two singles and a run batted in.

The Green’s David Brown singled twice and drove in one. Jacob Keiser tagged a triple. Dylan MacMillan drove in a Shamrock teammate.

Monroe Central 8, Beallsville 2

AT Woodsfield, Seminoles’ senior Kordell Antill improved his season mound mark to 4-0 after stopping Beallsville on six hits. Antill struck out 11 and did not permit a base on balls.

Beallsville’s Logan Nippert also went the distance, recording seven Ks and four walks. At the plate, Nippert singled and doubled and knocked in both Big Blue tallies.

Antill aided his cause with two hits and two runs batted in. Tanner Burkhart drilled a double and two singles. Jacob Black singled twice and plated a pair.

Indian Creek 10, Buckeye Local 8

AT Wintersville, the visiting Panthers dug themselves a 9-0 hole before a late rally came up two runs short.

Jonathan Borkoski and Shane Duncan worked the hill for Buckeye. They teamed for seven strikeouts and five walks. Creek’s winning pitcher Cole Yeater, one of four Redskin moundmen, fanned five and walked a pair.

Buckeye’s Chase Hopkins belted a single and double. Brian Zeroski collected two singles. Austin Marshall singled and accounted for two tallies. Duncan, Eric Banal and Dominic Rose contributed base knocks and a run batted in. Borkoski tagged a triple.

Conotton Valley 14, East Richland Christian 3

Host Conotton Valley batted around in the top of the first, scoring 12 times en route to a five-inning triumph over ERC.

The Lions’ Garrett Hart rapped a single and double, good for a run batted in. George Bell singled twice, scoring a teammate. Isaac McIntyre contributed a double and RBI.

St. John Central 12, Jeff. County Christian 2

AT NEFFS, Alex Francis singled twice and tripled to plate a run for the Irish, who also received three hits and RBI from Quinn Meyers.
