Hamilton sharp as Monroe prevails in baseball; Dogs win

Monroe Central’s Seminoles received two-hit pitching from senior Dylan Hamilton in a 5-1 Monday road victory at Frontier. The Noles’ righthander allowed but two singles while recording six strikeouts and one walk.

The winners’ Jacob Black singled and accounted for two runs. Seth Alleman slugged a run-scoring triple. Catcher Peter Frontz contributed a single and RBI.

Improving to 9-9, Monroe was scheduled to host Shenandoah this afternoon.

Bridgeport 6, Bishop Donahue 2

Bridgeport’s invading Bulldogs pulled away from host Bishop Donahue, scoring three times in the top of the seventh en route to a 6-2 Monday victory.

Coach Ted Downing’s ball club received a complete game mound performance from Bailey McGrath who scattered six hits and compiled five strikeouts.

McGrath did his part at the plate as well, hammering a two-run homer and adding a single, good for three RBIs. QJ Williams also collected two hits as did senior Jonathan Kreiter. Cody Reed contributed a clutch two-run single in the Bulldogs’ seventh frame.

Improving to 14-7, Bridgeport has a scheduled road outing this afternoon at Beallsville.
