Heagney no-hits Bridgeport, 10-0

Shadyside sophomore ace Megan Heagney hurled a six-inning no-hitter as the hosts thumped invading Bridgeport, 10-0, Tuesday afternoon in softball action at the Mead Township Complex.

Heagney was brilliant in the circle, fanning 13 and allowing just two walks.

Batterymate Lindsey Dunn had two singles, a double and four RBI. Senior Hayley Holenka had a double, triple and three RBI. Angelina McKeever posted a single, double and a RBI, while Sarah Dierkes had two singles and a like number of RBI.

The Lady Tigers are now 6-3 and were slated to host Conotton Valley this afternoon.

Harrison Central 1, Edison 0

AT CADIZ, the Huskies improved to 9-4 and 4-1 in the Buckeye 8 with their narrow win over the visiting Wildcats (8-5) at Sally Buffalo Park.

Kiley Staley singled in Paige Dunlap with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to provide the margin of victory. Dunlap had doubled with two outs. She also added a single.

Katie Ellzy was dominant inside the circle with 11 strikeouts and no walks. She scattered four singles.

Buckeye Local 8, Steubenville 1

AT CONNORVILLE, Ivy Starcher and Ashley Trouten combined on a 1-hitter as the Panthers (7-6) got back on the winning track with their win over visiting Big Red.

Starcher fanned six and walked two in her stint inside the circle. Trouten walked one and allowed a 1-out single in the seventh for the lone Steubenville safety.

Kierstyn Czuchran and Kaylee Decesare each singled and doubled to plate two runs. Amy Balk drove in a run with a pair of base raps, while Lauren Swiger smacked a solo homer.

Magnolia 7, River 3

AT NEW MARTINSVILLE, Rachel Hutchison delivered a 2-run triple in the fourth inning but it wasn’t enough to stop the Pilots (9-5) from falling to the host Blue Eagles (10-10).

Mackenzie Marshall singleds twice for River.

Union Local 6, Barnesville 4

AT MORRISTOWN, Union Local (9-9) struck four times in the bottom of the sixth en route to posting a 6-4 victory Tuesday evening.

Ali Bethel allowed eight Lady Shamrocks’ hits, but she managed to earn the win in the circle. She also had two singles.

Ali Delaney had a single and a double, while Maddie Schafer had two RBI. Brittany Stack had a RBI double and Allie Bethel had two singles.

Barnesville, which is now 8-6 on the season, was led by Hunter Weiss, who had a RBI double. Carolyn Blattler had two singles.
