Beallsville wins in softball action
Beallsville’s Lady Blue Devils scored seven times in the bottom of the fifth to post a 12-2, five-inning victory over invading Jefferson County Christian in prep softball play Tuesday afternoon.
Katie Kinney stopped the visitors on four hits, recording four strikeouts and a like number of walks. Morgan Marley collected three singles for Big Blue. Lacy Stewart slugged a home run and Madison Stephen drilled a double.
Beallsville was scheduled to play at Monroe Central this afternoon.
Edison 9, Bellaire 1
At Richmond, the Big Reds (17-8) late-season struggles continue as they were throttled by the host Wildcats (15-9).
Dallas Messenger singled twice for Bellaire. Mackenzie Conroy had a double.
Samantha Miller knocked in three runs for Edison with a single and triple. Jane Morrison had a single, double and two RBI. Molly McCoy singled twice and doubled.
Toronto 9, Bridgeport 7
At Toronto, the hosts tallied six times in the bottom of the fourth inning to erase a 4-1 deficit in defeating the visiting Bulldogs (10-11).
Ashley Hadzima doubled twice to drive in three runs for Bridgeport. Alexis Wilson had three singles that produced three runs. Emily Nowakowski singled twice.
The Red Knights improved to 15-6.
Steubenville Catholic 10, Bellaire 0
At Vaccaro Field, the Crusaders (15-5) were 5-inning victors over the Big Reds.
The Crusaders’ Nick Ivkovich blanked the Big Reds on three hits. He struck out eight and allowed but one walk.
Central’s Chris Murphy tagged a triple and single. Tony Barber and Brenton Colabella collected two singles apiece.
Bellaire’s Nathan Steele drilled a double.
