Edison cools off Barnesville, 6-2
RICHMOND – Homestanding Edison cooled off surging Barnesville a bit here Thursday afternoon in baseball action by a 6-2 count.
The Shamrocks (13-12) had won 10 of their past 12 outings.
Dylan MacMillan’s 2-run single in the top of the fifth drew the visitors even, but the Wildcats (20-3) tallied three times in the home half of the sixth to seal the deal.
Mitchell Wells singled twice for Barnesville, which plays Frontier Saturday at Niekro Diamond in Brookside in Division III sectional tournament action.
Indian Creek 12, Harrison Central 4
At Wintersville, the homestanding Redskins blew open a one-run game with a seven spot and posted a victory against the Huskies.
Tanner Wise earned the mound win for the Redskins, who are 15-11 and trek to Buckeye Local today.
At the plate, Dustin Rath had two singles and two RBI. Jonathan Woodbury had two singles, a double and three RBI. Tanner Wise drove in two runs with a like number of singles.
Harrison Central was led by Drew Horn, who had three singles and a RBI. Rashaen Mitchell had two singles and a RBI.
St. John Central 5
At Neffs, invading Caldwell took advantage of five St. John Central errors and went on for the win.
The Irish were led at the plate by Zac Schnegg, who had two singles and a RBI. D.J. Shoemaker had a double, single and drove in a run. Mason Kull had three singles and two RBI.
Kollin Melko had a RBI.
Steubenville Catholic 11, Union Local 11
At Morristown, the Crusaders and Jets (6-19) slugged their way to a deadlock when darkness halted action on Jets Field.
Justin Riley drove in three runs with a single and double. Tristan Bruce singled twice and doubled to plate a pair of runs. Austin Curry had a single, double and RBI. Colton McKivitz doubled in a run.
The Jets meet St. Clairsville Saturday in Division II sectional tournament action in Cambridge.
