OVBL Roundup: Lafferty rallies by Weirton

Lafferty spotted invading Weirton a 7-run lead in the top of the first, but chipped away and got the game to extra innings where he plated two in the bottom of the eighth to post a 10-9 victory.

Ethan Tobin and Jordan Barbina each had RBI singles, while Tyler McGary and Mark Smyth had RBI doubles during the Blue Crew’s rally.

In the bottom of the eighth, McGary ripped a two-run double down the third place line. All told, he had four hits, drove in three runs and scored two. Barbina also closed with four hits.

Wheeling Yankees 1

Barton improved to 5-2 on the season with a 5-1 victory against the Wheeling Yankees Tuesday afternoon at Henning Field in Crescent.

The Braves received solid pitching from Mike Muklewicz, who worked six innings en route to the win. He fanned six and walked two.

Mackenzie Koehler had two singles and a RBI, while T.J. Sliva had a single and drove in three runs.

Greg Bamberger led Wheeling with two singles.

Neffs 6, Shadyside 3

The Neffs A’s Gang recorded a 6-3 road triumph over Shadyside Tuesday evening in the Steele & Cook Insurance Agency OVBL.

Neffs was led by Steve Splenda, who had two singles and a RBI. Dane Koch, Josh Nagel and Leonard all had two singles.

Jared Brooks and Asturi each had a double for Shadyside.
