St. C. sweeps Toronto in American Legion baseball

St. Clairsville swept a pair of American Legion baseball games Sunday afternoon at Memorial Park, posting a 13-3 and 4-3 victory against Toronto.

In the opener, Logan Nippert went the distance in the game that was stopped after 4.5 due to the mercy rule. He fanned five and walked two.

At the plate, St. C. was led by Michael “Zuke” Jacob, who had three singles and a RBI. Malik Gummer and Hunter Westlake each had two singles and a RBI.

In the second game, St. C. pushed a run across in the bottom of the sixth on a RBI single by Lewis Mitchell to earn the victory.

On the mound, Dylan Hamilton earned the win. He fanned two and walked four, working into the seventh before turning it over to Bailey McGrath, who earned the save.

Eric Banal had two singles and a RBI as did Q.J. Williams. Gummer had two more singles.
