Ferry, Shadyside to meet in Jamboree scrimmage

MARTINS FERRY – As the high school football season draws closer, teams are amping their preparation toward game situations.

This Thursday, at the Dave Bruney Football Complex in Martins Ferry, the Purple Riders will host Shadyside in a jamboree style scrimmage, which will incorporate the junior high, freshmen, jayvees and varsity players along with both schools’ marching bands.

The event will begin with the seventh grades playing for 40 minutes at 5 p.m. The eighth graders will begin at 5:45 and the freshmen begin at 6:30.

Each band will then perform for 10 minutes and the varsity scrimmage will begin at 7:50 p.m. and run for 40 minutes.

None of the scrimmages will include kicking. All drives will begin on the 30-yard line.

There will be a $5 charge to get into the jamboree and the gate will be split between the two schools 50-50 after expenses are paid.
