Harrison Central boys play today

The Harrison Central boys’ soccer team will play its inaugural game today when the Huskies travel to East Liverpool.

First-year head coach Eric Sheets has 15 players out for the 2013 season, including five seniors, half-a-dozen sophomores, and four freshmen. Like the girls’ team, they are no juniors on the squad.

“Last year we had a co-ed club team, but most of the boys that I coached have been playing in the youth leagues for several years,” Sheets explained. “I am very excited to see how we stack up against other schools in the Ohio Valley.

“I have a great core of five seniors that I am leaning on to lead the team. I believe that we will be very competitive.”

Those five seniors are Kyle Dodds, David Forrester, Geoff Pecar, Jonah Rodgers and Parnell Sheldon.

Sophomores include Scott Forrester, Nathaniel Hoyt, Tristan Kulow, Drew Mizer, Evan Ossman and Conner Pecar. Freshmen are James Forrester, Matt Mizer, Logan Starr and Zach Stubblefield.

Starr is the lone goalkeeper listed on the roster.
