Prep Volleyball Roundup: Crusaders get past Bulldogs

STEUBENVILLE – Steubenville Central posted a 25-9, 25-15 and 25-13 sweep against invading Bridgeport Wednesday evening.

The Lady Crusaders were led by Maddie Gulan, who had five kills, four aces and 15 points. Monica Rigaud had nine kills and three blocks. Robyn Runkel had 15 assists and 18 points. Kamy Belardine added 13 points an five digs.

Bridgeport was led by Amber Millard’s seven points and two aces. Briana Massey had three points and four kills. Cheyenne Flowers had nine digs and two kills.

St. C. Bests Seminoles

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – Brigee Mick scored 12 points and had 13 digs, four aces and nine kills as St. Clairsville moved to 3-0 with a 25-20, 25-17, 25-16 victory against Monroe Central.

Rebekah Sadlowski added nine points and six kills for the Red Devils, while Gabbie Espen had seven points and 26 assists. Summer Gallentine had 16 digs, Emily Smith smashed seven kills, while Alexis St. Clair registered 23 digs, 14 kills and two blocks.

Katelyn Dimmerling paced the Seminoles (0-1) with eight points, an ace and 10 assists. Brittany Hooper had six points, an ace and 12 digs; Carly Baker scored four points, with two aces and 10 assists; Erin Miller had four points, two aces and four kills; Molly Schumacher compiled five kills and six blocks; Laycie Ball and Kelsie Dick each had four blocks; and Kaleigh Marley had 14 digs.

Monroe Central won the jayvee contest 25-19, 25-23.

Barnesville Sweeps Beallsville

BARNESVILLE – Paige Huntsman had eight points, 15 assists, 11 digs, seven kills, an ace and a block as Barnesville moved to 4-1 with a 25-17, 25-14, 25-15 victory against Beallsville.

Shasta Roberts added eight points for the Shamrocks to go along with five aces, five digs, four kills and an assist. Paige Wright added seven points, two digs and an ace; Sydney Ralston had six points, 12 kills, four digs and an ace; Miranda Plumly had five points, 10 kills, 11 digs and an assist; and Layna Broomhall compiled five points, four aces, 13 assists and seven digs.

Tigers Fall to Rockets

BOWERSTON – Shadyside dropped a three-game match at Conotton Valley Wednesday evening, falling by scores of 25-21, 25-9 and 25-19.

Frosh Jonna Eniex led the Lady Tigers with two aces, six assists and four points. Kelsey Chimley had five points and an ace. Samantha Rosser had a team-high five kills.

Shadyside is now 1-4 on the season.
