Steubenville’Petteway to miss season at WVU; Murray lands at Kent State
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) – West Virginia reserve linebacker Shaq Petteway will miss the 2013 season with a torn knee ligament.
Coach Dana Holgorsen said Monday the junior from Steubenville will be redshirted after tearing an ACL in fall camp, which wrapped up last week.
Petteway had 42 tackles as a backup last season. He also saw considerable playing time on special teams.
West Virginia opens the season at home Saturday against William & Mary.
NAJEE MURRAY, who played last season at Ohio State, has enrolled at Kent State University and will sit out the 2013 season because of NCAA transfer rules and maintain three years of eligibility, starting in 2014. Murray was a defensive back and played special teams for the Buckeyes last season, but missed the final few games with a torn ACL.
Murray was on track to compete for playing time this fall, but because of a “training camp issue” was suspended indefinitely by Buckeyes’ head coach Urban Meyer. Murray asked for and was granted his release last week.
