Ferry spikes Buckeye Local
Martins Ferry rallied from a game down to knock off Buckeye Local in four Thursday evening by a final score of 22-25, 26-24, 25-21 and 25-11.
The Lady Riders were led by Tyrah King who had 15 kills, two digs and two points. Sophomore Shaye DeLeonardis added 15 assists, 10 kills and six digs. Lauren Bennett had 10 points, nine digs, two assists and two kills. Brooklyn Monroe added 10 points, three aces and six kills. Breanne Long had seven digs and four kills. Mercedez McLeon added eight kills. Katie Sutherland had nine points and three kills.
Buckeye Local was paced by Morgan Staten and Preslie Renforth who went for nine and eight kills, respectively. Staten also went for 20 digs. Kierstyn Czuchran had seven kills. Lexus Fedorko had 13 assist. Nicolette Devore added 10 assists.
River sweeps Frontier
River made quick work of invading Frontier Thursday evening, posting a 25-15, 26-24 and 25-15 victory.
Sophomore dandy Jensen Caretti had another brilliant performance. She had eight points, eight kills, five blocks and seven digs.
Monica Curtis added eight points, 19 assists and six digs. Mikayla Cieszeski had six kills and four blocks. Amanda Bennett had 11 points, four kills, five aces and three digs. Mackenzie Marshall added six points, three kills, three aces and four digs. Mackenzie Wade donated 12 points, five aces and four digs. Abby Caldwell chipped in with 17 points.
Crusaders edge Bulldogs
Cheyenne Flowers had 13 points and 22 assists, but it wasn’t enough as Bridgeport fell on the road to Steubenville Catholic 23-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-17.
Ali Baker added six points for Bridgeport (2-4), while Maclaine Murad and Amber Millard each scored five points. Alysa Cook tallied 22 assists.
Zeps still strong
Shenandoah continued its strong start by besting visiting Buckeye Trail 25-18, 25-14 and 25-22.
Rocks sweep Knights
Shasta Roberts scored 15 points and was 19 of 19 serving as Barnesville swept visiting Wheeling Central 15-10, 25-9, 25-19.
Paige Wright, Sydney Ralston and Paige Huntsman all added eight points for Shamrocks (5-1). Huntsman added 16 assist and nine kills.
Miranda Plumly had 12 kills for the Rocks, while Layna Broomhall dished out 10 assists.
sweeps St. C.
Indian Creek had little trouble in cruising to a three-game sweep against invading St. Clairsville Thursday evening. The Lady Redskins prevailed by scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-19.
St. Clairsville was paced by Brigee Mick’s eight points, five aces and five kills. Gabbie Espen had 21 assists, while Summer Gallentine had nine digs. Megan Teater added five kills and Emily Smith had six points and two aces.
Bishop Donahue needed five games to outlast Beallsville. The Lady Blue Devils dropped a 12-25, 25-18, 25-13, 16-25 and 15-12 verdict to the Lady Bishops.
Beallsville was led by Morgan Marley’s 24 assists. Ella Campbell had 13 kills, seven points, three blocks and an ace. Megan Atkinson donated nine points, seven aces, four kills and a dig. Lexi Thornberry added four aces and six points.
Big Reds roll Linsly
Bellaire need just three sets to top Linsly on Guernsey Street.
Cari Crozier paced the Big Reds with 15 points and three kills, while Morgan Runyan added 12 pointand eight digs.
Tori Duffy added added 11 points and 15 assists for Bellaire.
Megan Maffe had six points, while Mackenzie Conroy and Talia Duffy scored five and four points, respectively.
Harrison Central falls
to Edison, Weir
Harrison Central fell to Weir 26-24, 25-17 and Harrison Central 25-15, 25-18.
Against Weir, Jesse Ledger had seven kills and 10 digs, while Katie Stackhouse had six kills and eight digs.
Ledger recorded sox kills and six digs against the Wildcats.
