PREP VOLLEYBALL: Bridgeport sweeps Knights in volleyball
WHEELING – Alysa Cook had 10 points and 23 assists as Bridgeport swept Wheeling Central 27-25, 25-20, 25-18 Thursday night in high school volleyball action at the Maroon Knights gym.
Maclaine Murad added 12 points and six aces for the Bulldogs (4-4), while Briana Massey added 10 points and seven kills. Amber Millard had seven points and nine digs and Cheyenne Flowers recorded seven kills and six digs.
Bridgeport won the jayvee match 25-14, 25-12.
Barnesville sweeps Bellaire
BARNESVILLE – Paige Huntsman had 14 points and 16 assists as Barnesville topped Bellaire 25-10, 25-15 and 25-23.
Paige Wright added eight points and 11 digs for the Shamrocks (7-2), while Shasta Roberts had six points and six digs. Miranda Plumly recorded 10 kills and 10 digs, while Sydney Ralston tallied five points and seven kills.
Morgan Runyan had 11 points for the Big Reds, while Hunter Eden had six points, seven kills and eight digs.
Irish down Cougars
BELLAIRE – Sydney Helms had five points, seven assists and three digs as St. John Central downed Frontier 20-25, 25-15, 28-26, 25-15.
Lindsee Perry added 10 points for the Irish, while Jessica Alvey posted six points and nine digs.
Magnolia sweeps River
HANNIBAL – Jensen Caretti had seven points, nine kills, seven blocks and four digs, but it wasn’t enough as Magnolia topped River 25-19, 25-17, 25-22.
Monica Curtis added 13 assists for the Pilots, while Amanda Bennett and Mackenzie Marshall added nine and seven points, respectively.
Abby Caldwell had 13 points for River, while Mackenzie Wade had five.
CONNORVILLE – Caitlin Brenstuhl had 13 points, 31 assists and six aces as Edison downed Buckeye Local 25-16, 25-10 and 25-9.
Jackie Wiedaman added six points for the Wildcats, while Maddie Williamson had 12 points.
Lexus Fedorko scored five points for the Panthers, with Preslie Renforth and Morgan Staten scoring three each.
Union Local tops Harrison Central
MORRISTOWN – Katie Bashline had 18 points, six assists and seven digs and Union Local bested Harrison Central 25-20, 25-23 and 25-11.
Devin Earliwine added 13 points and seven digs for the Jets, Kaitlynn Clark-Patterson had 10 kills and Bailey Wiseman had 10 digs.
Jesse Ledger had seven kills and seven digs for the Huskies, while Katie Stackhouse made five kills and 12 assists.
Zeps defeat Noles
WOODSFIELD – Kylee Kasper had 12 points and Kaysey King and Rachel Rossiter scored eight and seven, respectively, as Shenandoah downed Monroe Central 25-22, 25-15, 25-16.
Kelsey Dick had nine points and 10 assists for the Seminoles (3-4), while Brittany Hooper scored seven points and Kaleigh Marley had 10 digs and eight kills.
Wheeler sets Trail mark
OLD WASHINGTON – Angie Wheeler tied a school record for points in a match with 25 as Buckeye Trail topped Caldwell 25-13, 25-17, 25-12.
Wheeler shared the mark set by Alexa Abrahsm in 2009 and Lynsey Beros last season.
Kelsey Beros added 12 points, nine digs and eight kills for the Warriors (6-1).
