Trail rallies past River, 21-17
HANNIBAL – Buckeye Trail scored 15 unanswered points in the second half to rally past River 21-17 on Friday night at Flannery Field to halt the Pilots’ three-game winning streak.
Morgan Dougherty had three touchdown runs for the Warriors, including jaunts of 54 and 1 yard during the second-half rally. He also had a 1-yarder to open the night’s scoring.
Dougherty finished with a game-high 134 yards rushing on 23 carries. He also threw for 180 yards.
Tyler Starr caught five passes for 131 yards for the Warriors (4-5).
Jordan Sapp scored on runs of 10 and 8 yards for the Pilots. He finished with 73 yards rishing on 23 carries.
Colton Wright had the Pilots’ other points on a 31-yard field goal.
River (3-6) wraps up its season next Friday at Frontier.
