Beallsville roughed up at Glouster Trimble

GLOUSTER – Top-seeded Glouster Trimble (11-0) had no trouble with No. 8 Beallsville (6-5) here Saturday night in a Division VII, region 25 quarterfinal round game.

The hosts scored 27 second-quarter points in opening a 39-0 margin at the half against the Blue Devils.

Jacob Koons gave the Tomcats a 6-0 lead with a 6-yard run late in the first quarter. It became 12-0 moments later when Terry Simmerly picked off a Chase Mercer pass and returned it 23 yards.

Quarterback Konner Standley scored on a 20-yard jaunt to kick-start the second quarter outburst. He also found Austin Downs twice for touchdowns, once from 38 and another from 16. The duo also teamed for a 2-point conversion. In between, Justice Jenkins bulled in from four yards out. Jon Stevens added the PAT.

Downs caught a 7-yard scoring strike from Standley in the third frame, while Koons rambled 62 yards with another pick-six. Simmerly concluded the scoring with a 3-yard run. Wyatt Bragg kicked the final three PATs.

Beallsville could only manage 154 yards of total offense, but had half-a-dozen interceptions. The Big Blue ran the ball 34 times for three dozen yards. Mercer was 10 of 20 for 104, while Levi Phillips was 2-for-9 for 16 yards. Both threw three INTs.

Mikey Palmer had five catches for 66 yards. Derek Lucas caught three for 10.
