Beallsville girls down Bishops

McMECHEN – Dicey Stewart scored a game-high 18 points as Beallsville presented head coach Ty English with his first career victory, 42-40, over homestanding Bishop Donahue Tuesday night.

Stewart scored eight of her markers in the deciding fourth quarter when the Blue Devils (1-2) outscored the Bishops (0-1) by a 17-8 margin.

In fact, Beallsville trailed 10-9 after one quarter; 24-16 at the half; and 32-25 after three before finally pulling ahead.

Talitha Bedford added 14 points for Beallsville, which visits Hundred Thursday.

BOWERSTON – Conotton Valley won every quarter en route to handing St. John its second straight loss to start the season.

Freshman point guard Guy Pagano again paced the Irish with 16 points. Malik Ford added nine points.

CAMBRIDGE – Jordan Watson scored 17 points and Trevor Wilkinson had 10 as Cambridge downed Buckeye Trail in the Bobcats’ season opener.

Tyler Starr poured in a game-high 18 points for the Warriors (1-1), while Lane Starr had 15.
