HOOPS ROUNDUP: Caretti scores 42 in River girls win

HANNIBAL – Sophomore Jensen Caretti established a new River girls’ basketball single-game scoring record here Saturday afternoon when she blistered the nets for 42 points in the Pilots’ 62-45 triumph over visiting Magnolia inside the R.L. Potts Gymnasium.

Caretti meshed 19 of 33 shots from the floor while tickling the twine on all four free throws. She scored 16 of her points in the second quarter when River went to the lockerroom with a 29-26 advantage. She added 14 tallies in the fourth quarter.

Landyn Ramsay and Haylee Bowers added eight and seven points, respectively. Caretti also pulled down 18 of River’s 32 rebounds. Ramsay had six.

The Pilots travel to Beverly Monday night for a rematch with Fort Frye.


Barnesville 62, Beallsville 50

BARNESVILLE – Isaac McGee scored 18 points and Barnesville pulled away in the second half for a victory against Beallsville.

Brian Clark added 14 points for the Shamrocks (2-7), while David Stewart had 13 and Zach Houston 12.

Dalton Secrest paced the Blue Devils (1-7) with 12 points. Tristan Palmer added 11 points and Chad Louden had 10.

OUE?Men Fall Short

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – The Ohio University Eastern Panthers hosted the undefeated Miami Hamilton Harriers Saturday afternoon and fell short, 86-85. The Green-and-White was led by Nick Schuetz’s 37 points and eight rebounds.

Former Tiger Ellis Brown hustled his way to 28 points and five assists. Brandt Thieman had a fine all-around game scoring eight points, while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists.
