Monroe wins a wild one against Shadyside
WOODSFIELD – There’s probably not going to be a more wild game played in the OVAC this season than what transpired at Monroe Central High School Friday night.
Shadyside roared back from a six-point deficit to send the game to overtime before the Seminoles exploded for 17 points in the four-minute extra session and a 99-90 victory.
The teams combined for 27 3-point goals with the Tigers knocking down 17 of those.
Monroe Central, which is now 11-2 and plays at River this evening, was led by Bryan Duffy and Chandler Kuhn.
Each had 23 points. Tanner Burkhart added 17 and Zach Jorris added 11.
Shadyside, meanwhile, was paced by Logan Cline, who shot 9-of-10 from behind the arc en route to 27 points.
John Michael Schuetz added 21, while Zach Frizzi and Travis Fulton went for 13 and 10, respectively.
The Tigers (7-7) are also in action tonight against Martins Ferry.
Caldwell 70, River 48
HANNIBAL – Hot-shooting Caldwell jumped out early and never looked back en route to a 70-48 victory against the Pilots Friday night.
River was led by Parker Caretti’s 16. Eric Dierkes and Cole Isaly went for eight and seven, respectively.
River hosts Monroe Central this evening.
Indian Creek 53, Buckeye 41
WINTERSVILLE – The homestanding Indian Creek Redskins completed the season sweep of Buckeye Local Friday night with a 53-41 victory.
The Panthers led 15-10 after one, but were outscored 26-8 in the middle two chapters.
Indian Creek was led by Andrew Anderson’s 15. Jonathan Woodbury added 10.
The Panthers (4-7) were paced by senior Brennan Czuchran’s 17. Jonathan Borkoski added 10 points.
