Prep Roundup: Barnesville boys get past Shenandoah

BARNESVILLE – For the second time this season, Barnesville has defeated Shenandoah in boys’ high school basketball action.

Wednesday night inside the Greenhouse in western Belmont County, the Shamrocks (3-7) used Isaac McGee’s 25-point effort to hold off the visiting Zeps (2-8) by a 58-52 count. The hosts had prevailed, 61-43, earlier in Sarahsville.

McGee’s output was a season-high and saw him mesh two three-pointers among his nine field goals.

Eric Nicholson and Brian Clark evenly divided 20 markers for the winners. David Stewart added seven and Zach Houston six.

Both teams had 29 rebounds with Nicholson grabbing seven for Barnesville.

Shenandoah had 15 more turnovers at 25-10.

The Shamrocks visit the Moundsville Fieldhouse Saturday to meet John Marshall in a 5:45 JV tip.


Toronto 59, St. John 51

Toronto evened itsrecord at 6-6 with a 59-51 win over homestanding St. John Central Wednesday night.

Lexie Berger led the Lady Knights with 15 points while Lindsay Bodnar and Makayla Bauman each netted 14 markers.

Sophomore Lindsey Froehlich paced SJC wirh 20 points and 14 rebounds, while classmate Marissa Rose netted 16 points before fouling out with six minutes to play.
