Stewart powers Beallsville girls

BEALLSVILLE – Dicey Stewart scored 23 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, as homestanding Beallsville held off Valley 44-42 in girls’ high school basketball action.

The Bedford sisters – Talitha (9) and Lane (8) – teamed for 17 markers.

The Blue Devils improved to 6-13 and host Steubenville Central Monday in the Wheeling Hospital OVAC consolation bracket.

Shenandoah 48, Monroe Central 28

WOODSFIELD – Erin Miller scored all seven of her points in the fourth quarter to lead the Seminoles, but it wasn’t enough as the visiting Zeps had their way in this Pioneer Valley Conference matchup.

Monroe Central fell to 6-8.


Toronto 77, East Richland Christian 63

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – Blaze Glenn scored 32 points as the Red Knights breezed past the homestanding Lions at Ohio University Eastern.

The Mott brothers – Jeremiah (19) and Joel (17) – combined for 36 points for ERC, while Trevor Hamm added 13.

Beallsville 58, Paden City 50

BEALLSVILLE – Tristan Palmer scored 19 points as the Blue Devils beat the visiting Wildcats.

Chad Louden added 16 points for the Blue Devils, while Logan Nippert and Dalton Secrest had 11 points apiece.

Kennedy Cain had a game-high 23 points for the Wildcats (6-5).

Madonna 66, Bridgeport 54

WEIRTON – Josh Martin had 10 points to go with 14 rebounds as Madonna topped Bridgeport.

Joey Ewusiak added 13 points for the Blue Dons (9-3) and Ross Comis had 12 points.

Q.J. Williams led the Bulldogs (10-5) with a game-high 16 points and J.C. Cash added 11.
