Buckeye’s Czuchran named third-team all-Ohio

COLUMBUS – Buckeye Local’s Brennan Czuchran had a basketball season to remember this winter.

The Panthers’ senior became the school’s all-time leading scorer and first boys player to surpass the 1,000-point barrier in his illustrious career. He achieved that milestone in the Buckeye Local tournament game against West Holmes in Zanesville.

He added yet another honor to his growing resume Monday evening when the Associated Press Division II All-Ohio squad was announced.

Czuchran was named third-team after a season in which he averaged better than 21 points a game for Coach Greg Habberfield’s team.

Czuchran was also one of the Panthers’ leaders in rebounding and served as a facilitator on the offensive end as well as a standout defensive player.

This is Czuchran’s first time to be named all-Ohio.

Steubenville’s Adam Sterling, who helped lead Big Red to the OVAC Class 4A title and trip to the Eastern District Championship game – was named to the second-team unit.

The Division III and IV all-Ohio squads will be announced this evening by the Associated Press and the coveted Mr. Basketball Award will be named on Wednesday.

The complete listings of the all-state squads can be found on Page B4 of today’s edition.
