Prep Roundup: Bridgeport’s Bowers no hits Donahue in softball

WOLFHURST – Bridgeport freshman Miranda Bowers fired her first no-hitter as the Bulldogs blanked Bishop Donahue, 10-0, in prep softball action Monday at Irene Ehni Memorial Field.

Bowers struck out seven and walked none as Bridgeport moved to 3-1 on the season.

Bowers aided her own cause with a single, two RBI and a run. Caitlin Kroll had two doubles and three RBI, Julie Nowakowski slapped two doubles and plated two runs and Peyton Stewart singled and knocked in a run.

The Bishops fell to 1-6.

Bridgeport visits Bellaire today.

Magnolia 4, River 2

SARDIS – Mallory Chapman’s three-run homer in the first inning keyed Magnolia’s victory that gave River its first loss of the season.

Chapman also picked up the win in the circle, striking out 13 and walking one. Abby Durig added two singles for the Blue Eagles (4-3).

Haylee Bowers doubled for the Pilots (6-1). Gabby Goudy and Mikayla Cieszeski both singled and plated a run.

River plays host to Tyler Consolidated today.


Linsly 11, Shadyside 1

WHEELING – Arien Seymour doubled among two hits and drove in two runs as Linsly beat Shadyside.

Jameson Murray earned a victory for the Cadets (7-1), while Colton Coss doubled among two hits and Zak Kriechbaum doubled and drove in a run.

Zach Frizzi took the loss for the Tigers (1-1) and drove in their lone run.

Toronto 11, St. John 1

TORONTO – Ryan Cline doubled among three hits and drove in four runs as Toronto beat St. John.

Blaze Glen doubled among two hits and Danny Zdinak earned a victory and also doubled for the Red Knights (2-2).
