Barkcamp 5K funds new fire rings at the park
As a new crop of campers, picnickers, trail runners and hikers, mountain bikers, and horse riders, The Barkcamp Race co-directors Cindy Foose and Rod Miller would like to thank the sponsors and participants of our 2013 Barkcamp Race for supporting this event and the park.
By participating and sponsoring The Barkcamp Race and Barkcamp State Park, the race committee was able to purchase three fire rings for different areas in the park. These fire rings were purchased and constructed by Universal Supply of Belmont. These fire rings are located at the Beach Pavilion, the Group Campgrounds, and the Overlook Picnic area .
Campers and those having day events will now have fire rings to use for cooking and to just sit around enjoying the company of friends and family.
Park Manager Jason Carpenter and his staff are quite excited with this addition to the park. Miller and Foose state that this addition “is a great way to bring more campers and day events to the park and show off all it has to offer.”
In addition to the fire rings, The Belmont County Saddle Club and The Barkcamp Race co-directors Foose and Miller along with member of their Misfitz trail running and walking group have been working on the trails to make them more user friendly for all. Chuck Lofton, and his club members, spent a week with the co-directors working in the trails, with more improvements to follow in the future.
“Working together is how we get things accomplished for the park and all who use it,” Foose and Miller said.
