Dyson no-hits River

BROOKSIDE – Bridgeport’s Parker Dyson hurled a no-hitter as the Bulldogs blanked River 10-0 in five innings Tuesday afternoon on the Niekro Diamond at Perkins Field in Division IV sectional baseball tournament action.

The lanky lefty struck out eight and walked four. However, half of those free passes were picked off in the third and fourth innings. He also helped his own cause at the plate with two singles, a double and three RBI.

Bailey McGrath and QJ Williams evenly divided four singles, with Williams recording a run batted in. Pat Britton added an RBI double and Carlos Kusic singled in another run.

The Bulldogs advance to meet Toronto Thursday at 6 p.m.

St. John Central 2

Nate Stewart, Will Newbold and Sam Pinkerton combined for six runs batted in as the Red Knights topped the Irish in five innings.

Hank Clegg tossed a four-hitter.

Zach Schnegg singled and doubled for St. John Central.

Today’s action, weather permitting, has Shadyside and Steubenville Catholic battling for a district tournament berth at 5 p.m.
