River’s Goudy no-hits Devils

BEALLSVILLE – Gabby Goudy tossed her fifth career no-hitter, and second of the season, Tuesday as River routed Beallsville, 17-0 in prep softball action.

Goudy struck out 11 and walked none for the Pilots, who improved to 23-3. They’re off until Saturday when Division Iv tournament action begins against 12:30 p.m. against Frontier at Shadyside.

Emelie Heater paced River with three singles, a triple and two RBI. Haylee Bowers added a double, single and two RBI, Mackenzie Marshall tripled and plated a run and Lexi Piatt homered and knocked in two.

Beallsville dropped to 4-16.

St. John Central 4, Buckeye Trail 0

At Old Washington, Hannah Absalom struck out 13 and didn’t walk a batter in firing a three-hitter in lifting the Irish (16-2) past the Warriors.

She also smacked two singles and a double that plated two runs. Gilli Johnson had a run-scoring single and Kate Lovinski doubled.

St. John Central visits Steubenville Catholic today.

St. Clairsville 4, Buckeye Local 2

At Connorville, Lauren Figura, Carlee Gillespie and Mackenzi Otto all laced two singles as St. Clairsville got past Buckeye Local.

Figura and Otto both drove in one run each for the Red Devils.

Hunter Zeroski tripled, doubled and drove in a run for the Panthers (10-6). Katie Banal added a double and a single, while Morgan Staten slapped two singles.

Bridgeport 9, Toronto 2

At Bridgeport, freshman Miranda Bowers singled twice and doubled to plate a run. She also fanned one, walked two and tossed a two-hitter.

Caitlin Kroll had two singles and a double for the Bulldogs (13-6). Keri Renzler added a single, double and RBI, while Julie Nowakowski singled in two runs. Alexis Wilson singled in a run.

Bridgeport visits Beallsville today.

Barnesville 10, Linsly 0

At Somerton, the Shamrocks (7-11) scored eight times in the fifth and sixth innings to institute the mercy-rule against the visiting Cadets.

Sydney Ralston struck out seven and walked one in recording a three-hitter. Shaylynn Giesey tripled twice and singled to knock in two runs. Emily Sleeth also had a pair of ribbies.

Barnesville hosts Union Local Thursday at 6 p.m.
