St. C. Legion splits twinbill

PICKERINGTON – St. Clairsville Post 159 split a pair of American Legion baseball games here Sunday. The locals dropped the first game, 10-5, but rebounded for a 7-0 rain-shortened victory in the nightcap.

Cody Goletz picked up the mound decision in the win. He scattered a pair of hits.

Dillon Curtin had a home run and three runs batted in for Post 159. Eric Banal had a home run and two ribbies, while Michael Jacob drove in a run with a single and double. Bailey McGrath singled twice.

Malik Gummer had two singles in the opener.

Post 159 also split two games Saturday at Coshocton.

St. C. lost the first game 6-1 before posting a 12-2 triumph.

McGrath went six innings for the win in Game 2. He fanned five and walked one.

Gummer paced the Post 159 12-hit attack with a trio of singles that produced a run. Lewis Mitchell knocked in three runs with two singles. Banal tripled in two, while Curtin singled in a pair. Goletz had a double and two RBI. McGrath singled and doubled.
