Prep Roundup: Shadyside picks up seventh win; River explodes for 90
SHADYSIDE — Chase Wade scored 22 points as Shadyside topped Shenandoah, 64-44, in boys’ high school basketball action Tuesday night inside the Tiger Den.
Josh Zandron added 11 points for the Tigers (7-4), while Colby Sherwood added 10.
Nick Miller paced the Zeps with 16 points, while Kendall Sherman had 11
River 90, Magnolia 33
AT HANNIBAL, River left no doubt against its cross-river rival on Tuesday. The Pilots raced to a 34-7 lead after one and never looked back en route to a 90-33 victory.
During that first period, River’s Isaac Curtis connected on half of his school-record tying 10 treys. He finished with 33 points to lead all scorers. Junior standout Lukas Isaly added 27 in top support. Michael Collins finished with 10.
The Pilots (9-2) are off until next Tuesday when they visit Frontier.
Monroe Central 77, Frontier 63
AT BEAVERTON, Ryan LaFollette poured in 21 points and Monroe Central snapped a nine-game losing skid with a victory against Frontier.
Robert Bigler added 18 points for the Seminoles (2-9), while Trey Duffy had 13.
Wyatt Smitley topped the Cougars with 23 points, while Brent West had 11.
John Marshall 69, Barnesville 68, OT
AT MOUNDSVILLE, Barnesville had five players score in double figures, but it wasn’t enough as John Marshall prevailed in overtime.
Aaron Marovich led the Shamrocks with 17 points, while Tate Dowler had 15. Hunter George and Luke Powell each scored 11 points, while Kaelan Hannahs had 10.

AT BELLAIRE, Christopher Hupp scored 24 points and Clark Jennings had 20 as Caldwell bested St. John.
Cameron Opic was the high-point player for the Irish, popping in 24. Cody Hamilton added 19.

AT PADEN CITY, Aaron Heasley exploded for 34 points as Paden City downed Beallsville.

WHEELING — The Wheeling Park girls were led to victory by Lydia Bischof who won both the 200 (2:10.02) and the 100 breaststroke (1:15.22) in the home tri-meet over St. Clairsville and Weir.

The Wheeling Park boys just edged Weir and St. Clairsville with a victory in the final event of the day as the 400 relay team of Caleb Lucas, Ronald Butts, Zach Seals and Charles Schellhase (3:49.44) sealed the victory for the Patriots.
Weir was led by Wil Visnic who won the 200 (1:55.99) and the 500 (5:12.59), while the Red Devils were led by Matthew Marling who took top honors in the 50 (24.41) and the 100 (56.06).
