Prep Roundup: St. Clairsville rolls past HC; Buckeye wins

AT ST. CLAIRSVILLE, the Red Devils improved to 3-0 by virtue of a 56-41 victory against invading Harrison Central on Monday.

The Red Devils led 28-15 at the half and never looked back.

Maria Vincenzo knocked down five 3-pointers and finished with 19 points to lead all scorers. Katie Bradshaw and Ari Reager each had nine in top support.

Harrison Central was led by Alex Wiley. She scored 15 points. Sydney Starr added 12.

Buckeye Local 49, Steubenville 38

AT CONNORVILLE, Buckeye Local improved to 2-1 thanks to a 49-38 victory against invading Steubenville.

The Panthers outscored Big Red, 22-10 in the middle two periods to open the game up.

Junior Emily Holzopfel finished with 23 points to lead all scorers. Alaire Destifanes scored nine in top support. Carrie Dill had 13 rebounds.

Madison Fields led Big Red with 11.

Buckeye Trail 51, Barnesville 37

AT OLD WASHINGTON, Jenni Carmichael scored 22 points and Hannah Smith added 15 as the host Warriors (3-0) remained unbeaten.

Sarah Powell paced the Shamrocks (0-4) with 15.


Barnesville swept a bowling match from East Richland Christian Monday afternoon at Chestnut Lanes. The Shamrocks boys had a score of 1600, which was 193 more pins than ERC.

Jacob Gallaway had the high game with a 183, while Michael Heatherington had the high series at 326.

East Richland was led by Mason Milliken’s 161 and 310 series.

The Shamrocks’ girls finished with a 1,639-1,127 victory.

Baylie McMillan had a 191 and a series of 320 to lead the way. East Richland’s leader was Rachel Bruner, who had a 153 and 216.



Linsly 102, Martins Ferry 88, Brooke 32

WELLSBURG — Linsly claimed six first place finishes as it defeated Martins Ferry and Brooke in a tri-meet. Sian Longley won the 100 buttefly (1:07.86) and 100 breastsroke (1:15.11) along with being on the 200 freestyle relay with Buff, West and Even Ridenhour (1:53.14).

Martins Ferry Rylee Reis also won two individual events as she claimed the top spot in the 200 freestyle (2:08.34) and 100 freestyle (57.64). She was also the anchor of the winning 400 freestyle relay team that consisted of Kayla Fogle, Kylie Huber and Jamie Fogle (4:09.07).


Linsly 87, Brooke 72, Martins Ferry 50

Kaleb Nuckles-Polen won two events in the 200 freestyle (2:03.84) and 100 backstroke (1:04.72) as Linsly defeated Brooke and Martins Ferry. Vincente Bussyguin of the Purple Riders won two events.
