PREP ROUNDUP: Jones’ double-double powers ’Noles to win

WOODSFIELD — Zac Jones scored 24 points and grabbed 16 rebounds Tuesday night as Monroe Central moved to 2-0 on the young boys’ basketball season with a 62-39 triumph against river rival Magnolia in its home opener.

Luke Burkhart added 18 points for the Seminoles, behind five 3-pointers, whilke Garet Cramer dropped in three treys for nine points.

Jake Gamble paced the Blue Eagles with 18 points.

Indian Creek 55, Buckeye Local 30

CONNORVILLE — It was a balanced attack for Indian Creek as Mike Allan scored 11, Derrick Eakle nine and Matt Mamula eight. The fifth senior in the line up, Brennon Norris, dished put a game-high four assists to go with four boards and five points.

The Panthers got six points each from Cameron Grabits and Mason Brown. Buckeye Local was able to get eight different players on the scoresheet. Jacob Moffo pulled down four boards, while Grabits and Stevie Roberts each had two assists.

CADIZ — Trevor Thompson recorded a 544 leading Harrison Central past Martins Ferry at JD Lanes.

Jake Hudson added a 454 for the Huskies, while Hunter Stark had a 400.

Travis Carroll’s 335 paced the Purple Riders.
