Prep Roundup: River routs Frontier

BEAVERTON — River tied a season-high with 13 three-point field goals Friday night in a 51-21 rout of homestanding Frontier in boys’ high school basketball action.

John Murphy knocked down six of those bonus bombs en route to a game-high 20 points. He also grabbed eight rebounds.

Stone Thompson added seven points and a like number of assists for the Pilots (9-2). Colton Lawrence had eight points.

River was only 3-for-8 from two-point land, but they tickled the twine on 13 of 27 three-point attempts.

The Cougars are 7-4.

Monroe Central 69,

Bellaire 49

WOODSFIELD — Zac Jones poured in 26 points and freshman Malachi Rose-Burton had 12 as Monroe Central downed Bellaire.

Luke Burkhart added 11 points, including three 3s, for the Seminoles (5-7), who led 18-10 after one quarter.

Monroe Central was 11 of 12 from the free throw line with Jones and Garet Cramer both 4 of 4.

David Zwack paced Bellaire (2-11) with 19 points, while Cole Runyan had 13.

Beallsville 62, Hundred 47

BEALLSVILLE — Adam Baker scored 21 points and Wyatt Brown had 20 as Beallsville surged early in besting Hundred.

Dakota Phillips added 11 points for the Blue Devils (5-7).

Travis McCoy scored 13 points for the Hornets, while Logan Norris had 11.

Cameron 67, Bridgeport 55

CAMERON — Dillon Meintel exploded for 33 points to lead Cameron past Bridgeport.

Travis Mickey added 17 points for the Dragons.

John Stark paced the Bulldogs (3-11) with 18 points.

East Richland Christian 58, St. John 39

BELLAIRE — Duncan Pagano closed to within three points of 1,000 for his career by scoring 32 in a victory at St. John.

Josh Garcia added 13 points for the Lions, while Austin Moore had 11.

Matt Fouty paced the Irish (0-13) with 21 points. Nick DiLoretta had 12.

East Richland Christian 82, North Pleasant Christian 67

The Lions defeated the Falcons at Ohio University Eastern. Duncan Pagano led all scorers with a career-high 49 points and needs 35 more to reach 1,000 for his career. Josh Garcia added 31 points for the Lions.
