ROUNDUP: Barnesville baseball now 10-0 after routing Monroe

BARNESVILLE — Barnesville continued its prowess at the plate Saturday banging out 12 hits in moving to 10-0 with a 10-0 defeat of Monroe Central in the semifinals of its own Shamrock Diamond Classic at Memorial Park.

Jared Kernen doubled, singled and drove in three runs for the Shamrocks, who scored eight runs during the first three innings of the six-inning affair.

Aaron Marovich added two hits and two RBI for Barnesville, while Riley Tubaugh and Cade Hannahs each added two hits.

Gavin Carpenter and Logan Shepherd combined on a four-hitter, with Carpenter getting the victory. He went five innings, striking out eight and walking three.

Bellaire 6, Beaver Local 1

LISBON — Bellaire picked up a pair of crucial victories in its OVAC Tournament chase Saturday morning at Beaver Local.

The Big Reds prevailed, 6-1, in the opener and then 9-6 in the second game.

In the opener, Natalie Stoner was impressive in the circle and at the plate. She pitched a complete game, two hitter with seven strikeouts.

She also had a double, home run and two RBI. Kaitlyn Kosky had two singles and three RBI.

In the second game, Stoner came on in relief to pick up the win. She had two singles and two RBI, while Kosky had a double, singl eand two RBI. Andrea Booker had a triple and two singles.

The Big Reds are now 9-9 on the season and will host Union Local on Monday.
