BHCC champs to be crowned
It’s championship week at Belmont Hills Country Club.
The annual Belmont Hills Club Championship will be held this week for both men and women.
The women’s event gets under way on Wednesday and concludes on Thursday as the field tries to dethrone Esta Maloney, who’s had a stranglehold on the women’s championship for nearly the event’s history.
The men’s event gets under way Saturday with the first round. The final two rounds will be held on Sunday. It’ll be interesting to see whether or not James Carson can continue to own the title. Carson – a former Michigan golfer – has dominated the club championship, but he’s spent a lot of time coaching his son’s baseball team this summer.
It’ll certainly be interesting to see whether or not Maloney and Carson will be challenged.
The week of exciting golf actually gets under way today with the annual Lee Ann Scramble, which is held in honor of the late Lee Ann Schambach, who passed away a few years ago after a bout with cancer.
