OV?Seniors Championshp set for Monday

The 69th annual Ohio Valley Seniors Golf Association Seniors Championship will be held Monday at the Moundsville Country Club.

The association is comprised of Belmont Hills, Cadiz, East Liverpool, Moundsville, Sistersville, Steubenville, Wheeling and Williams Country Clubs.

The event will feature 90 players taking part in a shotgun start.

The annual Lee Ann Scramble was held a week ago today at Belmont Hills Country Club. The scramble is held in honor of the late Lee Ann Schambach and benefits cancer patients and research in the Ohio Valley.

Winning the tournament title was the foursome of Joe Doerr, Matt Hines, Bob Potts and Marty Crinkey.

The second-place squad was comprised of Dave Reasbeck, Jimmy Hood, Anthony Reasbeck and Dave Reasbeck Jr.

Taking third-place honors was the foursome of Dave Stack, Brad Hamilton, Larry Boroski and Larry Boroski Jr.

The tournament officials were quite appreciative of everyone who took part in the event as well as the major sponsors, including Bordas & Bordas, Wheeling Hospital, Tim’s Custom Installation, Colerain Golf Car Sales, Ohio Coatings, Grisell Funeral Home, Outback Steakhouse, Foster Bridge and the Cleveland Cavaliers.



The annual club championship was held on Aug. 18-19. Gary Schrickel posted a two-day score of 139, which was a stroke better than David Frey. The title is the first for Schrickel since 2009.

Jade Waligura was third with a score of 141. Eric Coe was fourth with a 143 and Ron Helms was fifth with a 145. John Becca, who led after Saturday’s round, finished sixth with a 147.


CHUCK DUNAWAY of Washington, Pa. aced the 140-yard 10th hole at Oglebay’s Crispin Course on Aug. 19. Dunaway used an 8-iron for his feat, which was witnessed by Don Dunaway, Al Dunaway and Tom Gessler.


The Richard Moorehead 3-man Florida Scramble was held on Aug. 19. The trio of Wilson, Wakim and Klamut won the medal division with a round of 61. Ennis, Green and McLaughlin were second with a score of 63.

Alig Sr., Carmichael and Bryan posted a round of 52 to pocket the handicap division. Travis, Daugherty and Porter each shot a round of 56.


The weekly league resumed this past week and Bob Hartley posted the closest to the pin and Don Ullman had the closest to the pin on the second shot in the Senecaville Senior League. The low gross title went to the duo of Bodner and McGee with a 32, while Allender and Davis were the low net with a round of 35.


  • A SCRAMBLE to benefit the Shadyside High School Softball team will be held on Sunday, Sept. 9 at Horseshoe Bend Golf Course in Armstrong Mills. The event will feature a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
