Prep Roundup: Barnesville takes down Linsly in 5 games

BARNESVILLE — the Shamrocks needed five games, but improved to 7-1 with a victory against winless Linsly by scores of 19-25, 25-18, 25-19, 20-25 and 15-8.

Astin Skinner had 10 kills, 10 points, 11 assists and 11 digs. Mindi Wehr had eight kills, 10 points and 15 digs. Madison Detling had 10 kills and seven digs, while Mya McEndree added 21 assists, 12 digs and eight points. Chloe Campbell donated 10 points and 11 digs, while Erin Hannahs had 11 points and 11 digs.

Shadyside d. Wheeling Central 25-20, 25-21, 25-18

SHADYSIDE — Jess Cicogna supplied 25 assists, seven kills, three blocks and two aces as Shadyside handed Wheeling Central its first loss. Riley Brown was also solid for the Tigers (8-2) as she had 17 kills and three blocks. Jillian Joseph had eight kills while Mackenzie Osman had six.

For the Maroon Knights (6-1), Nikki Nolte had eight kills and three aces while Julie Padden secured 14 assists.

Tyler Consolidated d. River 25-9, 25-11, 25-16

MIDDLEBOURNE — Cora Grimm was solid with eight digs, 16 points, five aces as Tyler Consolidated defeated River in straight sets. Emily Lancaster supplied 10 kills, four blocks and four digs for the Silver Knights (6-2) while JoLee Walton had 27 assists, three digs, 10 points and three aces.

For the Pilots, Katie Straub had three kills, five digs and four points while Lauren Flannery secured six kills and nine assists.

St. Clairsville d. Harrison 25-20, 25-19, 22-25, 25-19

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Ari Reager tallied 27 assists while Emily Cramer had 16 kills as St. Clairsville defeated Harrison Central. Paige Sefsick compiled five aces, six kills and 10 digs for the Red Devils while Madison Vickers had 16 digs and Keri Klinkoski tallied 11 kills.

John Marshall d. Union Local, 25-13, 25-20, 25-12

BELMONT — Maddy Mayle compiled 20 kills, 13 blocks, two aces and two digs as John Marshall defeated Union Local in consecutive sets. Lauren Garcia was also solid for the Monarchs with 30 assists, four aces and three digs. Lyida Knutsen had 13 digs and Emily Harr secured eight kills and an ace.

GLEN DALE — Justin Mencer tallied two goals while Wesley Eskridge, Dayne Bumdgarner, Cooper Curto and Jacob Varner all had one in John Marshall’s victory over Monroe Central.

Varner also had six saves for the Monarchs.
