WHEELING — The Viennese Winter Ball, an important fundraiser as well as one of the most elegant social events of the season, is scheduled to take place Feb. 5 at Glessner Auditorium in Wilson Lodge, Oglebay. Organized by a 17-member committee, the Ball generates funds for the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra.

A highlight of the event is the participation of the Cotillion, featuring eight young women and eight young men, all seniors at area schools, who have volunteered their time for the Wheeling Symphony. Dr. Richard and Mrs. Pamela Herndon are sponsors of the 2022 Cotillion.

The young women chosen for the 2022 Cotillion are as follows:

∫ Abigail Grace Monk of St. Clairsville. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wes and Heather Monk. Abigail is a senior at the Linsly School, where she serves as Senior Prefect and Vice President of the French Club, as well as a four-year member of the varsity softball team. She has been a riding student for eleven years at McCormick Stables and is Captain of the Interscholastic Equestrian Association Team. Abigail competes in rated Hunt Seat and horse shows. She will attend the University of Lynchburg as a member of its Hunt Seat Equestrian Team and plans to major in business.

∫ Danielle Grace Manabat Agcaoili of Wheeling. She is the daughter of Drs. Demetrio and Grace Agcaoili. Danielle is a senior at Wheeling Central Catholic High School, where she serves as President of both the French National Honor Society and the French Club. She is Secretary of the Science National Honor Society, a member of the National Honor Society, the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, and the Student Enrollment Board. Danielle is captain of Central’s varsity soccer and tennis teams. She is an instructor at Wheeling Hospital’s Safety Town and volunteers at the Oglebay Good Zoo and Laughlin Chapel. She works at Kumon. Danielle plans to attend UCLA and major in biochemistry.

∫ Kayla Lee Clatterbuck of Wheeling. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas and Crystal Clatterbuck. Kayla is a senior at Wheeling Park High School, where she is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, Drug Free Club of America, and Science Competition Club. She serves as a WPHS Freshman Mentor, a Peer Tutor, and a student ambassador, and is Secretary of the Park Pit Club. Kayla is a member of the Wheeling Youth Symphony Orchestra and the WPHS Orchestra. She plans to attend Marshall University and major in biomedical engineering in the fall.

∫ Danyelle Kathryn Dunlevy of Wheeling. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Ryan and Patty Dunlevy. Danyelle is a senior at the Linsly School, where she serves as a class officer, editor of the yearbook, Senior Prefect, and was a Junior Prefect. She is Head of the Linsly Service Committee and was a Linsly Day Camp Counselor. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the French National Honor Society, the French Club, and the SADD Club. Danyelle is a member of Linsly’s varsity volleyball, softball and track & field teams. She is a skating coach for the Wheeling Figure Skating Club, Greek Orthodox Youth Association Senior Leader, and volunteers for St. John the Divine Orthodox Church as well as the Youth Services System. Danyelle plans to pursue a degree in Pediatric Occupation Therapy in college this fall.

∫ Marta Ghigo of Wheeling. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paolo and Francesca Ghigo. Marta is a senior at Wheeling Central Catholic High School, where she is a member of the National Honor Society, the Science National Honor Society and Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society. Marta is a four-year varsity cheerleader as well as a two-year member of the varsity track team.

She is a member of the Drug Free Club of America, the Spanish Club, the Peer Ministry Club, the Pro-Life Club, and the We Stop Hate Club. She is an instructor at Wheeling Hospital’s Safety Town.

Marta plans to attend Clemson University to major in engineering in the fall.

— Rosalyn Claire Hill of Wheeling. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William and Juliette Hill. Rosalyn is a senior at Wheeling Park High School, where she is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. She is a West Virginia Secondary Schools Activity Commission Academic Achievement Award member. Rosalyn is a four-year member of Park’s varsity swim team as well as a four-year member of the WPHS Band, Jazz Band and Orchestra. She volunteers with the Miracle League. Rosalyn plans to major in neuroscience at WVU this fall and hopes to become a psychologist.

— Towne Virginia Moores of Wheeling. She is the daughter of Dr. William Todd Moores and Dr. Paige Suzanne Stoehr. Towne is a senior at Wheeling Park High School, where she serves as Class Secretary as well as co-captain of the WPHS Speech Team and secretary of the Thespian Society. Towne is a member of the varsity tennis team, Young Patriot Choir, Strings, the Park Players, the Key Club, and Drug Free Club of America. She is a Freshman Mentor and a REAP Counselor. She volunteers for WVU Medicine and serves on the YWCA Youth Board. Towne plans to attend a four-year university, follow the pre-med track, and eventually go to medical school.

— Isabela Elaine Wilkinson of Wheeling. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron and Elizabeth Wilkinson. Isabela is a senior at Wheeling Central Catholic High School, where she is a member of the varsity tennis team. She volunteers at Laughlin Chapel and the Soup Kitchen and enjoys working with the elderly and dog sitting. In her spare time, she enjoys art projects. Isabela plans to attend art school and major in interior design.

The young men named to the 2022 Cotillion are:

Brodie Jacob Selmon of Woodsfield. He is the son of Mr. Daniel Selmon and Judge Julie Selmon. Brodie is a Linsly “lifer,” having started school there in the fifth grade. Brodie is a member of the National Honor Society and has served as a Prefect during his junior and senior years. He is a member of and letterman on both the Linsly football and baseball teams. As a senior, Brodie was elected as a captain and received the Coach’s Award for the varsity football team. Brodie is also a member of the concert band. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, video games, and lifting weights. Brodie plans to attend Duquesne University in the fall to pursue a degree in Health Sciences/Medicine.

— Gavin Scott Beresh of Wheeling. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott and Molly Beresh. Gavin is a senior at Wheeling Central Catholic High School, where he is a member of the varsity golf and bowling teams and the CCHS choir. He plays in the Wheeling Symphony Youth Orchestra. Gavin is an Eagle Scout. He plans to attend Wingate University and major in criminal justice in the fall.

— Reece Hunter Blair of Wheeling. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David and Karen Blair. Reece is a senior at Wheeling Park High School, where he is a member of the National Honor Society, Park Players, and Drug Free Club of America. He serves as a Freshman Mentor and a REAP Counselor. Reece plans to attend WVU in the fall.

— Nathan Isaac Dieffenbaugher of Wheeling. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac and Kathleen Dieffenbaugher. Nathan is a senior at Wheeling Central Catholic High School, where he serves as Student Body President. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the Science National Honor Society, the Math National Honor Society, and team captain of the Science Bowl. Nathan is on Central’s varsity soccer and tennis teams. He plans to attend a four-year university in the fall and major in finance.

— Matthew Joseph Maroney of Wheeling. He is the son of Dr. Michael Maroney and Ms. Kim Maroney. Matthew is a senior at Wheeling Central Catholic High School, where he is a member of the varsity hockey and lacrosse teams. He plans on attending college in the fall to major in finance.

— David Javersak McKinley of Wheeling. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David H. and Meredith McKinley. He is a senior at Wheeling Park High School, where he plays varsity baseball and serves as a student aide in the school guidance office. David is a member of the Ohio Valley Mudcats, a travel baseball team. He plans to attend college in the fall to study business and play baseball.

— Adam Robert Och of Wheeling. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Craig and Leigh Ann Och. Adam is a senior at the Linsly School. He has dedicated his high school years to sports, playing hockey and baseball. He is an honor student and serves on the Yearbook Committee at Linsly. When not focused on baseball, Adam works at the Wheeling Country Club. He enjoys cooking, playing golf, and spending time with his family in his spare time. Adam hopes to play baseball in college and is undecided on his major.

— Nathan Ross Stryker of Wheeling. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin and Carol Stryker. Nathan is a senior at Wheeling Central Catholic High School, where he is a member of the National Honor Society, the Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Rho Kappa National Social Studies National Honor Society, and the Spanish National Honor Society. Nathan is a member of Central’s varsity soccer and basketball teams. He is a participant of the school’s Science Bowl and Quiz Bowl, attended Mountaineer Boys State, and is a member of St. Michael’s Parish Youth Group. Nathan plans to attend WVU and major in computer science in the fall.
