OHIO VALLEY Promenaders are slated to hold a square, round and line dance at 9:30 p.m. March 17 at the Bellaire Public Library, 32nd and Guernsey streets. BELMONT COUNTY Chapter 79 of the Public Employee Retirees, Inc., bi-monthly meeting will be Wednesday, March 21, at 10:30 a.m. at the new Belmont County Senior Service Center, 67650 Oakview Drive, St. Clairsville. The center is off U.S. 40 the first left after passing the Ohio University Eastern’s entrance. A representative from State Sen. Frank Hoagland’s office will be the guest speaker. All OPERS retirees are invited to attend the meeting and to become a member of PERI, Inc. and the Belmont County PERI Chapter. Call 740-449-2280 for more information.

FARM & HOME Flea Market and Tack Swap is slated 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 28 at the Belmont County Fairgrounds. Vendors are weclome; call Larry at 740-238-1000 or Andrea at 304-780-4336 to reserve a 10- by 10-foot booth space. Booth are $10 for inside and $20 for outside. There will be music by Deep Down Country from 8-11 p.m. and a square dance for $4.

BELMONT COUNTY Horse Committee is slated to host a spaghetti dinner from 3-7 p.m. March 24 at the Wise Building at the Belmont County Fairgrounds. Dinner includes spaghetti with meat sauce or marinara with meatballs, salad, bread and dessert. The cost is $8 for adults or $4 for children 6 years old or younger. For $10, one can get dinner and entry to the square dance. The dance is from 8-11 p.m., featuring Deep Down Country, and costs $4 by itself. Proceeds benefit the Belmont County Horse Committee in hopes of building new announcer stand at the fairgounds.

MOUNDSVILLE-MARSHALL County Public Library will host Larry Freeland for a captivating presentation on Monday, March 12, at 6 p.m. The program will be a thought-provoking visual appreciation of “How the Irish Saved Civilization.” This event is free and open to the public. How the Irish Saved Civilization: The Untold Story of Ireland’s Heroic Role from the Fall of Rome to the Rise of Medieval Europe is an historical nonfiction book by Thomas Cahill, a long-standing bestseller following publication in 1995. Freeland will share fascinating historical tidbits along with numerous photographs to help argue points made by Cahill, as well as his own take on Ireland as civilization’s champion.

SAUERKRAUT, PORK and dumpling luncheon will be served at the Dillonvale Presbyterian Church on March 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Other food items available will be creamed pork/chicken sandwiches, pasta salad, and baked goods. BELMONT COUNTY District Advisory Council Meeting will be held at 6 p.m. March 13 at the Engineer’s Building, Roscoe Road, St. Clairsville. This meeting of the Advisory Council is for the purpose of electing the chair and the secretary, making necessary appointments to the board of health, receiving and considering the annual or special reports from the board of health, and making recommendations to the board of health or to the department of health in regard to matters for the betterment of health and sanitation within the district or for needed legislation.

OUR LADY of Perpetual Help Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4136 Jacob St., Wheeling, will be selling potato and cheese; potato and onion; and meatless sauerkraut pierogi by the dozen, and cabbage rolls, now until March 16. Easter orders must be submitted no later than Friday, March 16. Orders may be picked up on Fridays at their Fish Fries from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. or on Sundays from 9:30-11 a.m. Please specify pickup date. Early orders are encouraged. ZION CHRISTIAN Retreat & Nature Center, located in Flushing will be sponsoring Holy Week services this year. Officiating will be the Flushing Ministerial Association. All services will be overlooking Zion Lake from the Pavilion located at 73999 Reservoir Hill Road, Flushing. Good Friday Service will be at noon Friday, March 30. Easter Sunrise Service will be held at 7 a.m. April 1. The service will be followed by a complimentary smoked pancake breakfast. There will be no offering taken, so come out and join the community in fellowship. Zion is not a church, it is a 501c3 non-denominational facility. All are welcome. CUMBERLAND TRAIL Genealogical Society will meet in the St. Clairsville Public Library’s meeting room, 108 W. Main St., at 6:30 p.m. March 12. They will begin with a short business meeting, followed by another phase of the Genealogy Workshop series, which will be held in the genealogy research area of the library. Even if one missed last month’s meeting, they are asked to attend. All CTGS meetings are free and open to the public.
