West Virginia Auxiliary of the Congregation of St. Joseph Annual Gala & Reverse Raffle is Oct. 4 at Wheeling Island

WHEELING — On Oct. 4, the annual Gala and Reverse Raffle sponsored by the West Virginia Auxiliary of the Congregation of Saint Joseph will celebrate the arrival 165 years ago of four sisters in Wheeling from Carondelet, Missouri.

The theme of the event is “Celebrating 165 Years of Service and a Continuing Presence in the Future, “according to Tammy Poppe, auxiliary president.

Poppe said the event to be held at Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack is the perfect opportunity for the auxiliary to recognize the congregation’s unparalleled legacy of service in education, health care, advocacy, and mentoring in West Virginia.

The decor for the evening’s celebration will feature black, silver, and gold. The evening begins with cocktails at 6 p.m. followed by a buffet dinner at 7 p.m. A cash bar will be available. Valet parking is available for the event.

Participants will have an opportunity to win a grand prize of $5,000, a first number drawn prize of $500, and a prize for every 25th number drawn during the reverse raffle.

Philip Stahl, public information officer for the Wheeling Police Department, will again serve as emcee for the evening.

Reservations must be made in advance by calling Tiffany Hoffman at 304-830-0377 or 304-277-3195. Additional raffle tickets may be purchased from Hoffman, as well as at the event.
