ST. CLAIRSVILLE — U.S. Army 1st. Lt. Zachary Andrew Ratka of St. Clairsville was recently promoted to the rank of captain.

Ratka is stationed at Ft. Hood in Killeen, Texas, and is serving with 1st Cavalry Division, 2-5 Cav currently on a deployment in Europe in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve.

Ratka was pinned his new rank by his wife, Capt. Liana Ratka, who is also deployed in Europe and serves with 91st Engineer Battalion. Ratka is a 2014 graduate of Virginia Military Institute and 2010 graduate of St. Clairsville High School. He is the son of John and Karen Ratka of St. Clairsville.
