OUE hosting College Credit Plus Information Nights

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Students currently in sixth through 11th grades and their parents are invited to attend College Credit Plus Information Nights at Ohio University’s Eastern Campus at 6 p.m. Feb. 1 and 6 in the OUE Theater, located in Shannon Hall. Those interested in participating only need to attend one of the two Information Nights.

College Credit Plus is a unique opportunity for qualified students to earn college credits prior to their graduation from high school. All tuition and textbooks are free. In addition, the college credits earned also count toward high school graduation requirements and are designed to transfer to most public universities in Ohio.

“College Credit Plus Information Night is a great opportunity for prospective students and their parents to learn more about the program, the application process and expectations of the program,” said Jay Morris, coordinator of College Credit Plus at Ohio University Eastern. “The sessions will include a question-and-answer session with OUE faculty, administrators and current students in the program, who will share their experiences.”

According to Morris, the program benefits many local students each year. Martins Ferry student Madison Lyle is in her second year in the program.

“The College Credit Plus program at Ohio University Eastern has proved to be a great way for me to receive college credits for free,” she said. “I find the courses to be very challenging, which will help me when I go on to get my nursing degree after I graduate high school.”

Barnesville graduate and current Ohio University business major Abbigail McMillen is also a firm believer in the program.

“Enrolling in the College Credit Plus program at the Eastern Campus was the best decision I could have made to help shape my future. This program allowed me to earn an associate’s degree at the same time I am graduating from high school,” she said.

Interested participants are encouraged to RSVP by calling 740-699-2536 or emailing Morris at morrisj@ohio.edu. Participants may also register online at www.ohio.edu/eastern by clicking on the “College Credit Plus Information” button on the right side.

Ohio University is conveniently located off Interstate 70 exit 213, just minutes from the Ohio Valley Plaza in St. Clairsville.
