Dillonvale Legion to host Memorial Day service
DILLONVALE — It is May and one of the biggest events for veterans of all services will take place on May 29 — Memorial Day. It is a time to reflect and remember the ones we lost during the Wars as well as the ones we lost from our local posts. VFW, American Legion, DAV and other military organization have lost members who served in their posts as well as their communities after their military service.
In preparation for its Memorial Day program, Dillonvale’s McCook Post #529 will be putting up tents on May 27 in the morning at the Night Rider’s Park on Liberty Street, Dillonvale. Their Memorial Day program is set for 11 a.m. and will have Rodney Roe from Buckeye Local High School as guest speaker and the musical wonders of Rick Pastre.
The community is encouraged to bring their own chairs for comfort and space. People can then follow the group to Friendship Park for more celebrations or enjoy lunch in the City Building Cafeteria provided by American Legion Post #529 Auxiliary.
For more information, call Michelle Hedgecoke, commander, American Legion Post #529 at 740-769-0088 between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.
